Walk away

Respect yourself enough to walk away from anything that no longer serves you, grows you, or makes you happy.

Thanks for sharing the quote, Meimei!

Happy, just because.

V shared a quote with me today that was exactly what I needed to hear:

Don’t let what one person says take away your happiness today.

So I will be happy. :) Because there’s no reason for me to dwell on something I cannot change, as long as I have put in the effort and tried my best. Some things cannot work out the way we want them to just because we want to solve the problem to make ourselves feel better.

Tonight’s dinner: Shark Bites Toast. The french toast with meat loaf and a sunny side up egg is the perfect comfort food on a rainy day.

Weekends always fly by.

True Kindness

“Kindness is a language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see”

                                                                                           – Mark Twain

A friend of mine recently recited that brilliant quote to me, and then went on to say that a lot of people mistaken kindness for politeness, but that is not true kindness. I have never thought about it that way, but I think that she is absolutely correct. Politeness is something that can be taught, and it’s a lot easier to be polite than to be kind. Politeness is displayed to conform to social expectations, whereas kindness can be altruistic and most importantly, involve empathy. This makes me question my own actions: Am I kind, or am I just polite? Of course it could be both, but I have never really thought about it until now.
