Why I Lie

People lie or avoid telling the truth for many reasons, and I’m no exception. I don’t like to lie, and I try to avoid lying, but when I do, it’s usually because:

1. I like my privacy, and I don’t think it’s necessary to tell others everything.

I have the right to my secrets, just like others have the right to theirs.

2. I don’t like to be judged on what I do/don’t do.

Sometimes when asked about the truth, I feel like I will be judged for it, so I might choose to hide the truth. I guess I can choose to not care, and let others judge, but I can’t let go like that sometimes.

3. Sometimes the truth hurts.

Some people know exactly who they are, and what they want, but I’m still trying to figure myself out. So please forgive me if I have offended or hurt anyone as a result of this. It’s a work in progress.
